Larry Fruth held the position of Teacher, Guidance Counselor and Athletic Director for over 35 years in the district. During this time, he also served in various coaching and advising roles, including being a member of the prestigious Ohio

The Dawn Suzanne Fruth Memorial Scholarship Fund (501c3 approved)

was established to identify and support graduating Wauseon High School

seniors pursuing a career in education. Many years ago Larry and Sharon

Fruth funded a scholarship named after their first daughter who was taken so young. Since then, all of the funds for the Award had been distributed and the award was discontinued. The Fruth family has dedicated their lives to learning, personal development and helping others and we know this fund is a meaningful way to continue this legacy by "paying it forward".

High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame – the top coaching fraternity in the country. The Fruths serve on various community boards, advisory and fundraising groups. Larry Fruth still serves as an elected member of the Wauseon School Board of Education. The entire family has a passion for education and for the thousands of students touched by this passion for learning and life skills development. We feel this scholarship fund, given in the name of their deceased daughter, will assist those deserving fiscal support in their goal of becoming educators. The recipients of the Scholarship funding is based on an application process, essay, and an established scoring matrix developed by the Scholarship Fund Board Members and communicated via Wauseon High School administrative staff.
